As for what inspired me to make this quilt square the way it is because I enjoy the balanced feel of two fabrics that are cornered to each other. There is some meaning behind half of the fabric as well that I thought was a nice message, it reads “I love my earth”, and “spare the planet”. I figured the I love my earth squares was fitting for a humanities class as we are learning to better understand others. As for the other half of the fabric I just thought it was interesting and had a nice texture as well as the colors meshing well together. I hope it produces a feeling of homie- ness and has good vibes. My sister and I went to our grandmother’s house this past weekend and our grandma properly showed us how to use her sewing equipment and made sure we did it right. This was a great way to spend time with my family as well as learning. I learned that things aren’t as hard as they initially seem and there are ways to help make things easier for yourself. Overall this was a fun project and I’m glad it resulted in some quality time spent with my family.
