This quilt square was inspired by my Nana. Throughout the course of this class, I have realized how much she influences my thoughts and actions. She inspires me to be okay with the
imperfections and that it is okay if the piece does not look perfect. I didn’t draw from any work in specific. I was trying to make my square geometrically, but I couldn’t figure out the math. So, I decided to go off on a limb and just start sewing the lopsided triangles together. I think they way it turned out is unique and different from other quilt squares I’ve seen. Though the pattern was pretty basic, so I added some embroidered hearts to add some personality. When you look at my work, I hope you see the love and appreciation I have for sewing and quilters. It is tedious work and they do it with no complaints. I think I tried my best to embody myself and the works of my Nana, combining them together to create a unique pattern /concept.

In the time it took to make this quilt square I feel that I have learned many things. I learned that life is short, and you are going to want to leave your mark in this world before you leave it. You may not even leave a mark big enough for the world to see but you can leave one big enough for your own friends and family to see. Making a quilt that can be passed down by the generations is something that should be cherished throughout the family. I think it brings into perspective the circle of life and this quilt you have made can be shown, learned, and passed down to the next person of the family. This is something I value the most.
